Acclaimed film director Quentin Tarantino dropped the trailer for his upcoming movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, set to drop July of this year. The film centers around fictional movie star Rick Dalton (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), and his stunt double Cliff Booth (played by Brad Pitt), as they navigate through the Los Angeles entertainment scene back in 1969.
The movie, sardonically dark in tone, also loosely involves the murder of Sharon Tate (played by Margot Robbie). Tate had been murdered at the age of 26 by the Manson family that year, and although her younger sister Debra has criticized previous directors for releasing films and cashing out on the 50th anniversary of her sister’s death, she’s publicly lent her support for the Tarantino’s project.
This will be the ninth feature film released by the esteemed director, marking the film as particularly notable since Tarantino has made it clear that he does not want to shoot passed 10 movies. The reasoning being, he does not want to keep on making movies passed his prime. His resume currently includes iconic cult classics such as Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Bastards, and the Kill Bill series.
This high standard of his has made each of his movies more anticipated than his last, and has kept him among the list of premier movie directors in the business. His unapologetic subject matter, and character, has also made him one of the most controversial directors as well.
